Mount Albo (or Montalbo) is a limestone massif located in the central-eastern part of Sardinia, right next to our centre, Lula, in the province of Nuoro. It is characterized by a 13 km long crest line, with an average height above 1000 m.
Our rooms overlook its slopes, the highest points are Punta Catirina and Punta Turuddò. These two peaks face each other and have the particular characteristic of being both 1127 m high.
It has been frequented since ancient times by man, who also built nuraghes, the best known of which is that of Littu Ertiches.
The long chain of Monte Albo naturally lends itself to important excursions in every season of the year. Along the ridges and across the passes (Janna Portellìtos, 639 m) you can admire suggestive panoramas and observe ancient settlements among the rocks and the Mediterranean maquis.
On Mount Albo, the golden eagle, the mouflon, the wild boar, the Sardinian goshawk, the rare coral chough find their natural habitat, and the Speleomantes flavus is an endemism. The flora is characterized by the presence of rare shrubs such as: yellow asphodel (Asphodeline lutea) - and endemic species such as the Sardinian bellflower (Campanula forsythii) - laciniata wallflower (Hesperis laciniata) - Monte Albo lettuce (Lactuca longidentata) - Corsican crespolina (Santolina corsica ) - Corsican beton (Stachys corsica) Sardinian-Corsican endemism.
